The first important economic data set should be the U.S. Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index to be released on Friday (January 3).
The ISM Manufacturing PMI has been indicating a contraction (a reading below 50) in the U.S. manufacturing sector since April 2024.
According to Trading Central's "Economic Insight", the ISM Manufacturing PMI is expected at 48.5 in December.
In the past 12 ISM Manufacturing PMI Reports, within one hour from the event, EUR/USD fell in 67% of times (8 out of 12 events), marking a trading range of 38.90 pips on average.
Meanwhile, most major markets, including the U.S. market, will be closed on Wednesday (January 1) for the New Year's Day holiday.
